Cupcakes, Brownies, and so much more!

Hello Everyone!

This past weekend was a very busy one for the Litchfield County and Naugatuck Valley crews! On Saturday, during the day, I started off the weekend with my best friend and my boyfriend at the Stop and Shop in Waterbury on Wolcott Street asking for donations to Huskython. We stood outside for 5 hours!! Needless to say, it took hours to warm up! However, it as a successful day: we raised over $360.00 for the HuskyThon!!

Then, the LC and NV girls all got together at Phyllis's house for a Baking Party! If only I could describe how many boxes of cupcakes lined her counters! I was touched and felt so blessed that all these amazing women gave up their Saturday nights to bake with me. We baked Funfetti cupcakes, Chocolate cupcakes, Strawberry cupcakes, brownies, and so much more! When we were done, Phyllis's table had disappeared underneath all of the cupcake containers! It was so much fun!!

On Sunday (Valentine's Day) I spent a wonderful day with Kyle, and spent the evening at the Miss New Haven County pageant. Sonia Baghdady was hilarious as she hosted the show, and all the girls looked incredible. The talent this year is unbelievable!! The night culminated in the crowning of Ashley Membrino: Miss Collegiate, Gabrielle Karol: Miss Fairfield County, Cassandra Cogan: Miss New Haven County, Alyssa Anderson: Miss New Haven County's Outstanding Teen, and Jaine Coann Lefebve: Miss Fairfield County's Outstanding Teen. These ladies emulated all the necessary criteria to become a role model to our youth, and we are proud to have them join the 2010 Miss CT family!

Monday was also a very big dayf or HuskyThon! My Litchfield and Naugatuck families came together once again to run a bake sale at the University of Connecticut's Waterbury branch. We spent the whole day there: from 12:30 to 6:30. The students there were unbelievably generous, some of them donating without even wanting a treat!! Through this fundraiser, we raised almost $300.00!! This brings my team fo HuskyThon up to a grand total of (drumroll please!!) $850.00!!!! I am so proud to call these talented and intelligent young women my family now, and I cannot express how blessed I am to have them.

Thursday, there will be another bake sale at the Torrington Branch, and then another in Waterbury on Friday! I am hoping to help my team reach $1,000.00 before Saturday night!! If you would like to donate, please see the HuskyThon home page and type in my name under "sponsor a participant." I can't wait to tell you all how HuskyThon goes!!

Fondly,
Cassandra Mastrianni
Miss Litchfield County 2010
