Miss Connecticut was the best experience of this year, by far! The new Miss Connecticut, Brittany Decker, deserved it and I am so proud of her. She is going to be a wonderful representative for our state, and at Miss America. I was fortunate enough to be chosen for the top ten, which was my goal from the beginning. I was so proud to stand next to the top ten young women in our state and to come back to Litchfield County proud of what I had accomplished at the state competition.
Before the State competition commenced, all the contestants went to the Gala, a fundraiser and sendoff party for all the contestants. Phyllis and I had a wonderful time, the food was incredible, and even Tiffany and Patty came to see me off! I was so grateful for all of the love and support that was there that night and it made me want to work so much harder to make them all proud!
The next day, I held a motorcycle fundraiser and raised over $500.00 for the Children's Miracle Network! That means, at total, we raised over $1,500.00. For a tough year, I was very proud of this total. That Sunday, Phyllis held a lunch for all the girls and our families before the limo picked us up! This was my first time in a limo and I was so excited to share that with my sister crowns and our business manager.
Once we arrived, all
of the constant rehearsals began! The next morning, we went in for our interviews, and I came out so proud of what I accomplished, I was SO ready for the rest of competition to begin! The first night of preliminaries, I performed my talent. For talent, I sang the Frank Sinatra/ Michael Buble classic: "I've Got the World on a String." This song was a perfect mix of a Broadway feel and a ballad. It was the perfect choice, and I am so proud. Martha Price, Miss Bristol, the talent award that night, and she completely deserved it. She is a sweet girl, and I could not have picked a better recipient myself. The next night, I competed in Onstage Question, Swimsuit, and Evening Wear. My onstage question was nerve wracking, but all-in-all I did better than expected, so I couldn't have asked for any more. :) Swimsuit was exciting for me, because I lost 10 pounds before the competition. Moreover, evening gown was my favorite part. I bought my evening gown in October, and I loved it just as much in competition as I did the day that I bought it! Then, on Saturday, they called my name for top ten! I couldn't believe it, and I almost hit the floor. Competing on Saturday night was the only thing I could has asked for! Then, at the end of the night, I was fortunate enough to watch my sister, Kirsten, make the top five!!! I was so proud, that I picked her up and cried! She was beautiful, and absolutely deserved the honor of being named 4th Runner Up.
I have a lot of plans for the next few months, and I can't wait to get started! See you all again soon! :)
With love,
CC
