Hello everyone!!
Since Miss Connecticut, my life has been going non stop! I took another summer class, Abnormal Psychology, and finished the class was an A-. Also, I did out the math and found that I will definitely be graduating in 2011, an entire year before my class! After I graduate, I plan to attend the university of Hartford doctoral program so obtain my PsyD in the Childhood and Adolescence concentration track. I am so excited that I am one step closer to starting my career. I took my GRE in August and did very well, and I am taking my GRE subject test of Psychology in November. My research concentration has taken off and we are currently testing children at the local daycare. My cheerleading practices have taken off and I am having a n amazing year already! I have gotten my standing tuck back and my stunting is better than ever! I can't believe what a wonderful start my academic year has had :). HuskyTHON has also gotten off to a wonderful start. Dancer week is in November and we are working on fundraising ideas to raise awareness and funds for the Children's Miracle Network. Speaking of the CMN, I have made the decision to make CMN my official platform as a contestant within the Miss America Organization. The decision was not hard, as I have already raised $10,000.00 for the cause. Also, I participated in HuskyTHON 2010, which raised more than $150,000.00! This year will be even bigger and better, and I am thrilled to be working with a cause that means so much to me!
This past weekend, I attended the Bethlehem Fair with my phenomenal business manager, Phyllis Nordby. I spent the day with her and had a wonderful time recruiting contestants and raising awareness about our amazing program. Nancy and Roger Picard also came by to see me, as they were my business managers for Miss Wolcott 2009 and have become my wonderful friends as well! I was also surprised by flowers from Kyle, and rode the Ferris wheel - crown and all! It was so nice to see the community that I represent come together for such a wonderful event. I also had the opportunity to speak with Nancy Wyman, political figure, and learn her views on important issues facing our society. The day was great!
Next weekend I will be auditioning for Southington Icon, and visiting the Waterbury Branch of the Connecticut Children's Medical Center to play with just a few of the incredible kids they help. I can't wait to meet, play, and hear their stories!
Until next time,
Cassandra Mastrianni <3
